 Density Filter Sets

Opticology provides absorptive-type Neutral Density Filter Sets that provide flat attenuation across the visible spectrum.  These sets are custom made to your specifications, please inquire about typical sets generally available from stock.  In addition, Opticology routinely fabricates Density Filter Sets for the Ultraviolet UV and Infrared IR, either over a wavelength range or specific wavelength.  Additionally, Opticology fabricates Equal Thickness Neutral Density Filter Sets by varying the glass type so that each density filter has the same thickness which is useful in imaging systems when changes filters without the need to refocus.  Any of the filter sets can be Antireflection (AR) Coated for the region of interest.

Custom Glass Filters Polished to Transmission

Upon request, Opticology polishes filter glass to your desired transmission not merely to a specified thickness. Since colored filter glass can vary as much as 20% from melt (material lot) to melt, for accurate filtering applications polishing to thickness is unacceptable. Using this process, Opticology can hold tight optical density (OD) specificationsand has done so to better than 0.020 OD.

Ultra-Precision Colored Glass Filters

When required, Opticology fabricates filter glass to high dimensional tolerances and with precision quality surfaces for laser, astronomical, or military/defense applications. Parts can be finished to precision to the following specifications:
  • Transmitted Wavefront: 1/20 wave
  • Thickness: +/-0.02mm
  • Parallel: 1 arcsecond
  • Scratch/Dig: 10/5
Having our own optical fabrication facilities gives us the ability to provide you with custom components and one-on-one project consultations at a competitive price.

Variable Neutral Density Filters

This product is a compact, ½”-optical-post-mountable system and consists of two rotating wedges that varies the optical thickness of the colored glass filter. A simple turn of a knob varies the transmission and can be calibrated as needed. These are customizable for optical density range or filter type and therefore built to order
