"We've engineered products for
use in our own laboratory...now we are selling
them worldwide."
Opticology is introducing
a line of standard, high quality optical and opto-mechanical products designed for reliability and ease of use. As engineers
working in the laboratory on a daily basis, we were tired of high
priced, difficult to use products, which seem to have no regard
for the end user when they were designed.
Full Color LED-Based
Fiber Optic Illuminator
Below is a Full-Color LED based Fiber Optic Illuminator with
applications in machine vision and general illumination. Similar to
available fiber optic illuminators that launch light into a ½
diameter fiber bundle, Opticology's product uses a combination of
multiple ultra-high brightness red, green, and blue LED's that are
concentrated and efficiently launched into the bundle using a
proprietary optical concentration system. |
|
Since
there are 3 colors available,
the user can dial in narrow band
red, green, or blue emission, or
a combination of the three to
achieve any desired color, even
various 'shades' of white!
Our device eliminates the need
for color filters, by using
electronically selected color
combinations. The output
produces cool, high-intensity
illumination.
Opticology's unit is unlike
conventional fiber optic
illuminators that require a high
current draw, generate excessive
heat, and require the projection
bulb to be replaced frequently.
Conventional systems are
inefficient due to the fact that
the fibers have a finite
acceptance angle and a good
percentage of the light is lost
and doesn't make it down the
fiber. |

|
Since Opticology’s system uses LED’s, heat generation
is miniscule, lifetimes approach 100,000 hours, and the unit is
lightweight without bulky transformers. Additionally, the light
exiting the fiber is true ‘DC’ – there is no high frequency flicker
one might experience with conventional systems.
The unit is currently available as a prototype
system for evaluation. If you have interest in obtaining a system
for evaluation or OEM integration you may contact Anthony
P. Cappo directly. Note that customization is available including
custom wavelength selection (Monochrome, Infrared, etc.), software
or electronically controlled color mixing, fiber size, package dimensions,
etc.
